See the continents, unpack once.

See the continents, unpack once.

It is the adventure of a lifetime, a voyage for the family photo albums: a cruise clear around the globe. World cruises are a fantastic way to see the world and enjoy a relaxing holiday simultaneously, offering visits to a multitude of countries and continents alongside the unhurried travel and relaxing days at sea that come with a cruise.

In case you need convincing that a world cruise should be on your bucket list, we have listed a few reasons that might persuade you.

1 . You will see things you’ve never seen before
A cruise around the world inherently includes a huge variety of places. Itineraries vary between lines, ships and times, but the vast majority will voyage to Asia, the isles of the Pacific, the Caribbean, Europe and the Mediterranean, the Middle East and more, probably passing through the iconic Panama and Suez canals. To see all of these places in your lifetime is wonderful - to see them all in one trip, unforgettable!

The Panama canal from the deck of a ship is a sight to behold.

2 . It’s a lengthy holiday
Some people joke after being away for a week that they need another holiday to recover from the first - and it’s not far from the truth! The break is almost never long enough. A world cruise, however, lasts three months or more, allowing you to unwind and relax completely so you are refreshed and ready to return home and reminisce on your great adventure.

3 . You can pick your cruise line
Cunard is well known for their wonderful world cruises, and are a great option. However, they are far from the only one. Princess, Holland America and P&O UK also offer world cruises, so passengers can sign on with a line that suits them. For something even more extraordinary, you can also circumnavigate the world on a number of boutique luxury ships from lines such as Seabourn, Silversea and Azamara.

4 . Sail from Australia
Princess Cruises offers world cruises from Sydney every year or two, making it easy for Kiwi cruise lovers to get onboard their dream voyage. Get on an elegant Princess ship from right here in the South Pacific and head out to see the world!

5 . Make lifelong friends
One unexpected advantage of a lengthy sea voyage, reported by many world cruisers, is the opportunity to meet lots of people, often like minded folk who enjoy travel and cruising. Treasured friendships frequently come out of world cruises, as passengers spend a lot of leisurely time together and form bonds over dinner, drinks, shared experiences and adventures onshore. These last well beyond the cruise itself, giving world cruises long-lasting benefits.

I have enjoyed visiting as much of the world as possible over the years. Europe and the Mediterranean are personal favourites, but there is so much to see very close to our little Australasian corner of the globe- one of my top travel experiences was snorkeling with tropical fish and turtles in New Caledonia! Cruising is a fantastic way to see it all, and we hope to make booking a cruise easier for both first-timers and old salts. From ship tips to destination news and views, we will keep you up-to-date. Happy cruising!
