Quantum Of The Seas Overview

Launched in 2014, the Quantum of the Seas was the first ship in the Royal Caribbean's innovative Quantum Class. Action-packed, with a wide variety of adrenalin-pumping on board activities, this cruise ship is ideal for families and active cruisers. Her sister vessel is the Anthem of the Seas.

The Quantum of the Seas specs

One of the largest cruise ships in the world, the Quantum of the Seas weighs 167,800 tonnes and measures 1,139 feet in length. She has the capacity for 4,180 passengers and 1,500 crew members. Her cruise speed is 22 knots.

Inside the Quantum of the Seas

The Quantum of the Seas is a big, bright and bold ship. Expect something different around every corner, from the vibrant Seaplex to the many bars, lounges and restaurants. The interior decor is tasteful yet modern; the designers weren't afraid to incorporate fun colours and geometric patterns. The result? A vibrant, lively ship with a fun-loving atmosphere - you're bound to enjoy yourself on board!

Quantum of the Seas itineraries and shore excursions

The Quantum of the Seas spends most of her time exploring destinations in China and Japan, calling into ports such as Shanghai, Fukuoka and Okinawa. The shore excursions available will depend on your chosen cruise itinerary, but you can expect a variety of tours to suit all interests and fitness levels.

Cabins on board the Quantum of the Seas

Of the 2,090 cabins on board the Quantum of the Seas, 75 per cent come with balconies. All passengers can enjoy ocean views thanks to new technology, which allows for 'virtual balconies' in interior staterooms; a real-time projection of what is happening outside onto the screen.

Standard staterooms range from 166 square feet to 198 square feet with 119 square foot balconies. All cabins include basic amenities such as hair dryers, writing desks and flatscreen televisions.

A compromise between a suite and a cabin are the mini-suites. At 276 square feet with 161 square foot balconies, these rooms offer a touch more space than standard cabins but come without 'suite status', which is reserved for those in larger accommodations.

There are several categories of suites, ranging from 351 square feet with 109 square foot balconies to 975 square feet with 501 square foot balconies. There are also several family suites and interconnecting rooms available.

Entertainment on board the Quantum of the Seas cruise ship

The Quantum of the Seas by day

In line with the ship's atmosphere, the activities available on board the Quantum of the Seas are bold and unique. While you can find typical cruise activities, such as trivia games and bingo, the Quantum Class differentiates itself from other vessels by providing one-of-a-kind experiences that are designed to encourage people to try something new and break out of their comfort zone. For example, a skydiving simulator which propels you 23 feet in the air, and a Seaplex entertainment complex featuring bumper cars, basketball and roller skating facilities.

Another incredible feature is the North Star, a jewel-shaped capsule that offers 360° views over the ocean more than 300 feet above sea level. Be sure to take your camera - the outlook is absolutely breathtaking.

Although action and adventure is at the heart of this ship's philosophy, that's not to say there aren't places where you can relax and unwind. The Vitality Spa offers an impressive range of luxurious treatments, while the adults-only pool is a serene sanctuary away from families and children. There is also a well-equipped fitness centre on board for those looking to keep fit.

The Quantum of the Seas by night

As the sun sets, the ship lights up with amazing live performances and Broadway style shows in the Royal Theatre. This is mostly home to production shows but you can occasionally watch magicians, comedians and singers perform here, depending on the ship's schedule.

Another great spots for live entertainment is the Music Hall, where cover bands play classic tracks by Led Zeppelin, Bon Jovi and other rock and roll stars. Later in the night, the Music Hall transforms into a club, with a DJ who plays all of the latest Top 40 hits.

There are many bars and lounges on board, with a setting to suit all tastes and interests. Be sure to make time to visit the Bionic Bar, where you order drinks from a tablet and are then served by a robotic bartender - a glimpse to the future, perhaps?

The Casino Royale is located on Deck 3 and well equipped with several slot machines and table games.

The Quantum of the Seas for families

Many of the activities on board the Quantum of the Seas are family friendly, such as the bumper car track in the Seaplex and the pool area, making this ship incredibly popular among those with children. Parents have a lot of choice; they can either enrol their kids in the Adventure Ocean Youth Programme or make their own fun. It's the best of both worlds! There's also an excellent Royal Babies & Tots nursery.

There are dedicated youth and teen areas, all of which are well-equipped with age appropriate games and activities. Organised youth programmes run from early in the morning until late at night, with group babysitting services available until 2am (for a small fee).

Music Hall

  • Music Hall is Quantum of the Seas' hottest live music venue and is the place for guests to enjoy intimate and exclusive access to live performances, while also rocking out in a rebellious and edgy setting. At night, Music Hall comes alive as the heart of the ship's entertainment featuring bands, musicians, djs, theme night parties and more.

North Star

  • Leave it to Royal Caribbean International to literally and figuratively take you to a higher place. One of Quantum of the Seas' most anticipated features, the exclusive North Star promises to elevate you both physically and emotionally, revealing 360-degree views of a world you've truly never seen before! Simply step into the North Star's intimate, jewel-shaped capsule and gently ascend over 300 feet above sea level, where you can take in breathtaking views of the ocean, the ship, and the exciting destinations that we visit.

RipCord by iFly®

  • That's right: Fly! Another first you'll find only on Royal Caribbean is RipCord by iFly®. This skydiving simulator lets guests experience the sheer thrill and exhilaration of flying. RipCord by iFly®'s air machine will keep you afloat in a safe, controlled environment. So you can feel the wind in your hair, and utter WOW of flying, all without ever having to leave the ship.

SeaPlex

  • SeaPlex is not only the largest indoor active space at sea, but also the most groundbreaking. By day, guests can experience a circus school and flying trapeze, as well as a full-size regulation basketball court. Then by night, the first-ever bumper car and roller skating offerings at sea will deliver thrills, with music provided by a floating DJ booth that hovers above the activity happening below. And if all this play makes you hungry, the first-ever food truck at sea is on hand to serve up tasty snacks.

Two70°

  • A completely revolutionary space, Two70° is sure to become one of Quantum of the Seas'SM most iconic venues. Seamlessly fusing together technology and entertainment, this one-of-a-kind grand room promises to take you on a transformative journey from day to night. During the day, the space is a modern, open area living room with magnificent 270° panoramic views — the perfect place to kick back and relax while taking in the scenery from vast floor to ceiling windows spanning two-and-a-half decks high. By night, Two70° transforms.
  • As the lights go down and the music comes up, you'll find yourself immersed in the center of spellbinding performance art, mind-blowing light shows, and dazzling digital scenery. And did we mention there also happens to be an ice bar serving up your favorite cocktails? You truly have to see it to believe it.
