"Antarctica - a once in a lifetime experience"

After 24 days on the Seabourn Quest travelling from Valparasio, Chile to Buenos Aires, Argentina via Antarctica & South Georgia, many people have asked us what the highlight was. Having thought long & hard we have decided to say getting on Quest. Boarding the ship in Valparasio meant we could enjoy the good food & wine on board, served by excellent attentive staff. But more importantly being on board enabled us to see glaciers calving, whales (humpbacks, orcas, minkes) feeding, penguins sitting on nests, feeding chicks, walking back to their nests, swimming, icebergs floating & rolling. Then there's the seals, sea lions & other bird life. The expedition crew, on board were excellent & the daily lectures were informative & entertaining about where we are going, what we would see & the a recap to are sure everyone knew what they had seen. Landings were very well organised with passengers being divided in to colour groups, to ensure no more than 90 passengers were on shore at a time. The passenger / crew ratio on Seabourn is one of the best in the cruise industry & the crew get to know the passengers names. It was really nice to see the members of the crew being allowed on shore as well. While 24 days on Seabourn is not cheap, it is an incredible experience & we would not have missed it for the world.
